The export of Italian wines has been doing quite well (+11,4% in 2007, in comparison with 2006 rates, and +3% in the first three months of 2008) and Consortium Piacenza Alimentare devised its promotional programme in favour of Piacenza wines to continue the investments in this sector. About €.50.000 have been appropriated to promote the wines of a group of local wineries (Cantine 4 Valli, Vicobarone, Casa Bella, Valtidone, Az. Agr. Il Poggiarello, Perinelli, Zerioli, Molinelli, Torre Fornello) willing to approach international markets like Asia, Russia and Nord America).
The programme includes different types of initiatives: exhibitions, workshops, seminars, buisiness meetings with buyers, importers, distributors and representatives of the specialised press.
During the first six months of 2008 Piacenza companies took part in the following events:
1) Prodexpo – Moscow, 11/15 February 2008
2) Italian WInes tasting (organised by the Italian Trade Commission) in Poland (Warsaw) and Lithuania (Vilnius) on 15th and 17th April.
3) Vinexpo Asia Pacific – Hong Kong, 27/29 May
4) Workshop in St. Petersburgh (organised by Vinitaly Tour) on 11th June.
This year the "Piacenza Group" exhibited for the first time in the biennal fair Vinexpo Asia Pacific, the most important exhibition in Asia for the wine sector. Consortium Piacenza Alimentare displayed its products within the Italian pavilion organised by the Italian Trade Commission, which hosted 60 Italian wines producers. Exhibitors expressed their positive opinion on this initiatives, which gave themthe opportunity to get in touch not only with Chinese organisations, but also with business operators from Japan, South Korea and other Asian countries.
In the next few months, Piacenza wines will be on display in several other occasions in Asia (Japan and China) and North America (USA, Canada). Consortium Piacenza Alimentare is working to present our wines during Vinitaly US Tour (Chicago, N.Y., Washington, 29/30 October), Vinitaly Tokyo, Vinitaly Shanghai (end of November 2008) and in the "Big Wine Tasting" organised by the Italian Trade Commission in Canada (Vancouver,Calgary, Montreal, Toronto Quebec City, from 28th October to 6th November 2008).
