The second "Coppa d'Oro" [Golden Coppa] award ceremony is due to take place on Monday 13th October 2008 at the Congress Hall of the Alberoni College in Piacenza. The event is organised by the Chamber of Commerce of Piacenza to celebrate what is considered to be the "queen" of local cured meat products, Coppa.
This year's event is expected to be even more interesting: attending journalists will be give the opportunity to try a sensorial approach to Coppa to recognise and appreciate not only the organoleptic characteristics, but also the feelings that the taste of this wonderful product may evoke.
Two nationally renowed experts are taking part in the event: Prof. Luigi Odello, President of theReasearch and Training Center for Food Tasters, and Prof. Mario Fregoni, who teaches Viticulture at the Catholic Uversity of Sacred Heart in Piacenza and is a great wine expert. Participants will be "guided" through a tasting of various differently aged PDO "coppa piacentina", matched with premium-quality local CDO wines.
The congress will be followed by the award ceremony, conducted by the Italian TV presenter Barbara Chiappini, who is also a native of Piacenza. The "Coppa d'Oro" award will be conferred on tow important personalities: Prof. Carlo Cannella, President of INRAN [National Research Institute on Food and Nutrition] and Filippo Chiappini Dattilo, world-famous chef.
A concert held by the "L. Cherubini" Orchestra is closing the event.
