The XV edition of the Great WIne Tasting in Canada closed a few days ago. It's the biggest event devoted to Italian wines in Canada organised by the Italian Trade Commission (ICE) and this year it involved 112 wineries from 16 regions, including the Piacenza winery TORRE FORNELLO.
As usual, the tour consisted of two main events. It opened on 25th October in Vancouver, capital of British Columbia, then moved to Calgary, Alberta, on 27th October. On 1st November the event arrived to Toronto, Ontario, and the final even took place on 3rd November in Montreal, Quebec.
Canada is still the 5th export market for Italian wines (6% in 2009, corresponding to € 191 million. In the first six months of 2010 the export of Italian wines recorded an increase of 18,4 % in value and 1,3% in volume. The average value of Italian wines grew by 14% and in 2010 their presence is probably further consolidating.
