Consortium Piacenza Alimentare took part once again in Foodex, the most important Asian food fair which takes place in Tokyo every year. Among the exhibitors, three associate companies: Az. Agricola Torre Fornello, Delicius Rizzoli S.p.A. and San Nicola Prosciuttificio del Sole S.p.A.
In 2007, the export of Italian food products to Japan amounted to 441 milion Euro (+1%). Such a low increase is in line with the trend for the last five years, when export performance variations have always been close to zero. This situation is mainly due to Japanese current financial situation.
Italian export composition by sector has changed over the last ten years: in 1997, the most represented sectors were wine, pasta and olive oil. Today, wine export improved its performance, while the other two sectors have become less important at advantage of Fruit & Vegetables, Cheese, Cured Meats, Coffee and Water.
