The Oxford Food Symposium on Food and Cookery celebrated its 30th anniversary. The oldest and most important gathering on this topic, it brings together up to 220 international scholars, journalists, chefs, scientists, sociologists, anthropologists–and even committed amateurs–among others, for a serious discussion about the theme at hand. This year's topic was "Celebrations".
This international event involved several Italian Regions and Provinces including Piacenza, which played an important role. On Saturday 9th July, a lunch celebrating the Italian Risorgimento was organised including ravioloni with ricotta and spinaches dressed with butter and sage as a first course, a typical dish of our area.
The ravioloni were offered by Pastificio Fontana S.r.l and the whole menu (including also antipasti, chicken with rosemary and white wine, cheese and zabaione) was accompanied by the wines offered by the winery "Il Poggiarello" (Sauvignon, Malvasia Beatrice Quadri, Gutturnio Valandrea) and "Perini & Perini" (Malvasia Spumante sweet). The Consortium Piacenza Alimentare organised the product supply in collaboration with the organisers of the Symposium, Ms. Claudia Roden (authors of famous recipe books) and Antonietta Kelly (ICE London), as a continuation to the promotional action which started in March with the successful mission organised in collaboration with Confindustria Piacenza. Another success across the Channel for Piacenza excellent food and wines.
